Misconfiguration is the finding. Find it first

NorthIron scans AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud continuously for misconfiguration and access gaps, checks your source control supply chain, and maps every result to the compliance control it affects. You see the security problem and the audit consequence in the same view.

01 /The problem

What this looks like today

Cloud drifts

A bucket opens, a security group widens, a role gets a broader policy than it needed. The environment that passed the audit in March is not the environment running in September.

Security findings and compliance findings live apart

Your cloud tool reports a public storage bucket. Your compliance tool reports a failing control. Nobody connects them, so the same problem gets worked twice.

Supply chain checks fall through the gap

Branch protection, secret scanning, dependency hygiene, repository permissions. Cloud posture tools do not cover them and code scanners do not report them as compliance controls.

02 /How NorthIron does it

The finding and its audit consequence, in one view

Continuous multi-cloud posture scanning

NorthIron runs scheduled posture assessment across AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, covering misconfiguration, exposed services, weak access policy, encryption gaps and logging failures.

Source control supply chain checks

Repository configuration, branch protection, secret exposure and access permissions are checked directly, filling the gap a generic cloud scanner leaves open.

Findings mapped to controls

Every finding resolves to the atomic controls it affects and, through them, to every framework requirement those controls serve. A failed check is not just a security ticket. It is a visible movement in your readiness figure.

  • Read-only access to your cloud accounts; nothing is modified
  • Scheduled scans, with an on-demand scan when you need one
  • Passing checks become dated evidence automatically

Scan output as evidence

Passing checks become evidence artefacts automatically, dated and refreshed on each scan, so the automated part of your control set maintains itself.

One finding, followed through

From the resource that broke to the audit question it answers.

The resourceA storage bucket loses its restriction, or a role quietly widens. The scan sees it on its next pass.
The findingRecorded against the exact resource, with what changed and what it now allows.
The controlThe finding resolves to the atomic controls it breaks, so it stops being a ticket nobody connects to the programme.
Your readinessEvery framework requirement those controls serve moves with it, which is how a configuration change becomes a visible drop rather than a surprise at fieldwork.
03 /The NorthIron difference

The mapping runs both directions

Most tools show you findings and leave you to work out which auditor question they affect. NorthIron shows you the control, the frameworks it serves, the evidence behind it, and the exact cloud resource that broke it.

04 /What you get

What changes once this is running

  • Continuous posture assessment across three clouds in one console
  • Supply chain checks most compliance platforms do not cover
  • Findings expressed in both security and compliance terms
  • Automated evidence collection for cloud controls
  • Early warning before drift becomes an audit finding
05 /FAQ

Questions we are asked about this

What access does NorthIron need to our cloud accounts?

Read-only. NorthIron assesses configuration and does not modify resources.

How often do scans run?

On a scheduled cycle, with on-demand scans available. Results update the control scoring when they complete.

Does this replace a penetration test?

No. Posture scanning finds configuration weakness continuously. A penetration test finds exploitable weakness at a point in time by attacking the system. Most frameworks expect both.
